EMPIRE CASINO – LONDON GAMES

I’ve spent quite a few evenings at Empire Casino, and let me tell you. When they say it’s the largest gaming floor in London, they’re not exaggerating. Walking in, there are rows and rows of gaming tables and electronic machines spread out across this huge space. They’ve got everything you could want – poker, roulette, blackjack, baccarat, and over 100 slot machines and electronic gaming options scattered throughout.

What really caught my attention on my first visit was their separate poker room. It’s tucked away from the main floor, which gives it a more focused atmosphere. I have watched several tournaments here over the years, and the energy is always pretty intense. One thing that was really cool when I was starting out was their poker experience packages. They run these ‘Learn to Play’ tournaments, which are essentially two hour private sessions where you’re not risking any real money. The dealers there are genuinely helpful, too. They walked me through strategy tips and poker etiquette that I still use today. It’s a great way to build confidence before jumping into the real cash games.

Now, I haven’t personally been inside the Dragon Lounge (my bankroll isn’t quite at that level yet), but I’ve seen the entrance and talked to some regulars who have access. It’s this exclusive VIP area that’s basically a casino within the casino. You must be a Platinum, Diamond, or Seven Stars cardholder to enter. From what high limit players tell me, it’s all about high stakes gaming with way nicer tables than the main floor, private entrance, and service that makes you feel like royalty. The entire setup is designed for serious players who bet big and want the luxury experience away from the regular casino crowd.

The main floor still has plenty to offer, though, and I’ve had some great nights just bouncing between the blackjack tables and trying my luck on the electronic games. There’s always a good buzz in the place, especially on weekends when it gets properly packed.

Empire Casino in London Gaming Floor

You will find video slots like Lucky Lady, Pharaoh’s Fortune, Cleopatra, Dolphin’s Pearl Duluxe, Book of Ra Deluxe.

What I love about this place is that you can order food and drinks using their pager system. There is nothing worse than having to leave a slot before time because you need some food.

EMPIRE CASINO – LONDON DRESS CODE

Smart casual dress code is accepted at Empire Casino so you won’t have to dress up to visit this top-class casino. You shouldn’t take that dress code lightly, because there are still a few things that they won’t allow into the casino. For example, don’t wear any clothing that has offensive wording or pictures on and also no sportswear of your favourite sports teams. Gentlemen are welcome to wear shorts as long as they are smart and the same goes for jeans.

FOOD & BEVERAGES

  • Icon Balcony Bar
  • This cocktail lounge, situated above Leicester Square, boasts a balcony overlooking the square and provides a stylish alternative to the gaming floor. Note: according to one source (2025) it was listed as closed, so you may want to check whether it’s currently open.
  • Kings Sports Bar
  • Located within the casino, this lively bar operates 24/7 and showcases major sports events on multiple large-screen displays, making it a great choice for sports enthusiasts. I have been here several times and had great fun.
  • 7th Cat Chinese Kitchen
  • Within the casino complex, 7th Cat serves late-night Asian fusion comfort food (led by chef Ellen Chew). The setting blends dining with a late-night venue feel.

SPECIAL EVENTS

The poker room holds cash games and tournaments every day. A typical cash game could be the £1/2 No-Limit Hold’em with a buy-in range of about £50-£400. For tournament players, buy-ins start from around the £60-£80 mark (plus fees), depending on the event. Entry to the casino floor is free, you must be 18+ and present valid ID. A “smart casual” dress code is recommended.

“The casino offers ‘Learn to Play’ experience packages—where an experienced dealer walks you through games like blackjack and roulette, often bundled with drinks, a meal, and/or free bets. Historically the cost was around £29.50 (including a burger & drink) but current packages start at around £25-£30, subject to availability and inclusions.”

ACCOMMODATION & TRANSPORTATION

Travelling to the centre of London by car can be challenging but as long as you head towards the A501 or A4202 roads you will be heading in the right direction. Both of these are available for 24 hours of the day and are less than 5-minutes walk from the casino. The public transport in London is reliable and a great way to get around without having to find parking. The local underground stations service various parts of the city and you can find the nearest one at Leicester Square Station. This station is just two minutes walk from the casino, just leave the station and walk across the road towards Leicester Square.

Leicester Square is a busy part of the city alongside the Thames River. Whether you’re using public transport or walking, you’ll be able to visit many local attractions. The closest option to the casino is the Cambridge Theatre that hosts mainstream plays and musical productions. Some of the best attractions in the city are only a few streets away. The National Art Gallery, The London Eye, and the Sea Life London Aquarium are three nearby options that can entertain all ages of the family.

Next door to Leicester Square are the suburbs of Westminster and Mayfair. These are two of the most popular areas of London and home to Hyde Park, Westminster Abbey, and Buckingham Palace. There are so many attractions in this area of London that you’re going to struggle to find the time to see them all.
