Odin: Protector of Realms is one of the more interesting new slots that we’ve seen from Play n GO lately, as it offers a Cluster Pays system and an unusual game area for its many symbols to land on. The graphics are as good as ever, and we even see Odin and his realm in the background image.

The mix of symbols is an appropriate one, showing us icons with runestones in the lower paying positions, but then it’s moving on to premium ones, with swords, drinking horns, shields, and hammers.

Developer

Play n GO, a developer with a lot of different slot machines under their belt, doesn’t always do a great job, but on average the quality of their content is among the best I’ve seen in this industry. It’s always a pleasure to check out their games, even when they don’t innovate. They launch about one new slot machine each week, so at this rate it’s understandable that they can’t always put out something unique.

How To Play It

Starting out is as easy as in any other Play n GO slot machine. You only have to select a bet, and it’s from within a range of $0.20 to $100. This will be the amount you use each round, to get the entire game area active.

In exchange, the game offers a large game area, that has a hexagonal shape, which uses a Cluster Pays system to get you paid. You’re going to need anywhere from 5 to 35+ symbols in a cluster (up to 37 are possible), to get a win. Depending on the type of symbol and the number of positions occupied next to each other, the payouts can vary considerably.

Special Features

It’s a Cluster Pays system, so you need the symbols to land next to each other. Once a cluster of 5+ forms,  its symbols are removed, and others come down to occupy those empty positions. This leads to additional winning clusters.

The standard Wild feature is present, and can be quite useful, as the symbol’s going to contribute to any new clusters that are being formed, when it’s in the right spot to assist with their formation.

As you create winning clusters, the symbols are collected in a Ring Meter, and if you get enough in a single round, then additional features will trigger. The stages are at 30 charges (Bronze Forged), 70 charges (Silver Forged), and 120 charges (Gold Forged). A cluster of symbols is created, in the middle of the game area, ranging from 7, to 12-19 symbols, or to 20-37. The type of symbol depends on the position found in the middle of the game area.

Odin’s abilities, which will trigger for you and help you to get the charges, include:

• Wisdom (upgrades the central symbols to a wild or premium icon);
• Power (destroys 2 symbols, to help you reach the full charge, if you’re close to it);
• up to 8 random wilds are added to the game area, during losing rounds.

Maximum Payouts

Expect a slot machine that has medium volatility, and which can pay very well for the amount of risk involved. Up to 5,000x the stake is promised inside, and the slot’s RTP can be as high as 96.20%.
