Baron Bloodmore and the Crimson Castle Slot Machine – Free Play & Review

Vampire-themed, Baron Bloodmore and the Crimson Castle takes us to Transylvania by the looks of it. It’s one of the usual high-end designs that Thunderkick always seems to manage delivering, and it’s a pleasure to look at. Luckily, it’s also fun to play.

The action takes us to Crimson Castle, owned by Baron Bloodmore. We see the luxurious castle interior in the background image, while on the reels we discover images of the Baron, Gargoyle, Wolf, Raven, Royals from Jack to Ace, and the feature symbols. The latter include the Castle (scatter), a Female Vampire (wild), along with various other symbols that may appear during certain features.

Developer

Like a lot of other companies that are delivering great slots these days, Thunderkick also originates from Sweden. We’ve seen a fair number of games from them that impressed us. A few that I’d mention, would be the ones from the Crystal Quest series, or the Beat the Beast titles.

How To Play It

You get the option to select a total bet, you don’t have to mess around with line bets here. The minimum offered as an option is $0.10, while the maximum can get to $100.

It’s a standard game area, where you will find 5×3 reels, along with 25 predetermined pay lines, on which you need to land 3+ matching symbols, left to right. Of course, there is an entire list of other features that could trigger, and help out.

Special Features

Among those special features, that you’re going to get along the way, there is a regular wild symbol as well. This one takes the form of a female vampire, and it’s properly marked with the Wild logo. Used as a substitute, the symbol is only useful when placed next to regular symbols. It doesn’t do anything for the feature symbols.

3×3 Massive Mystery symbols are randomly triggered, and may show up on the middle reels during paid spins. The transformation of the Mystery symbol is into a regular or a wild.

Marked with a Bonus logo, and showing a golden skull with wings, the scatter is the one able to trigger the free spins for you. 10, 15, or 20 free spins, are delivered in exchange for 3, 4, or 5 Skulls visible.

One thing that changes for this mode, is that the Massive Mystery symbol is guaranteed to trigger each round. The middle reels will get a single type of symbol in all positions, making it a lot easier to form winning combinations.

It might’ve been enough already, in most slots, but Baron Bloodmore is not stopping there. There is a Crimson Cash bonus as well, activated through three scattered Cash symbols (Crimson Castle, drawn in red and orange).

At that point, the game area transforms, and gives you 3 respins during which you’re trying to land cash symbols. If you do get additional cash symbols, they also become sticky, and the respins reset back to 3. Mostly, you will be getting blank positions though. At the end of the respins, you get up to 50x the stake from each Cash symbol (the value is shown on them).

There is more to Cash Bonus than that, with Pattern collection being a thing, as is a Spawn feature with multipliers, or a Copy feature that collects prizes.

Maximum Payouts

Baron Bloodmore and the Crimson Castle can deliver huge wins, up to 25,000x the stake being paid through a single extremely lucky spin of this slot. Naturally, it’s highly volatile as well, but with a 96.15% RTP that looks fine.

Summary

With all the features included, and the modifications done to the usual Hold & Win respins, I think that Baron Bloodmore has a lot to offer, and it should be a slot to include on your “To Play” list. Of course, keep in mind that it’s a game where you’re taking big risks, it doesn’t work for everyone.
