Path of Destiny Slot Machine – Free Play & Review
Ancient deities have often received attention in slot machines, and these days you can probably find such a game based on every major god. In Path of Destiny, it’s time for India’s Ganesha to get a bit of attention. The elephant god is represented in one of the symbols, and the game relies heavily on Indian-style decorations, with gold used in its borders and background image.
Many of the symbols available in this one, will rely on the same Indian style for their design. It’s even the case for the five low value Royal symbols, which range from 10 to A. The next four symbols have a higher value, and they show us a Lotus Flower, some kind of gold bottle, an incense vessel and a god’s representation in gold and jade. We see the Ganesha Coins as its mystery symbols, and a Temple as the scatter.
Red Tiger has done a great job in turning their cookie cutter designs of the past, into much more unique titles. They used to have very similar games, where they changed themes, but features used to be similar, and often enough based on random triggers, rather than symbols. They were always great looking titles though, and in 2019 the company was acquired by NetEnt because of the reputation they managed to build over the years.
How To Play It
$0.20 to $40, that’s the full range of your betting options in Path of Destiny. The option is available in the bottom left corner, under the button marked Stake.
20 active lines is not that great, for a slot machine which has 5×4 reels, they’re just a bit too spread out. Still, to be appreciated here, is that these lines can form combinations both ways. While most slots only allow for consecutive symbols to land left to right, here it’s possible to go right to left as well.
First of all, Ganesha is the god that inspired this slot machine, so it’s only natural for it to have a presence among its symbols. We’re going to see it in the form of a coin which has the elephant god on it. These are used as mystery symbols, meaning that you don’t know what you’re going to get from them initially. Once the spin is over, the coins will all transform into a single type of symbol, randomly chosen. It can lead to a lot of matching symbols, and potentially to multiple combinations as well.
Another big symbol is the scatter, the one showing a Lucky Spins logo and a Temple. It lands on reels 1, 3 and 5, and all three are needed, to get the feature. It includes 10 free spins. To retrigger it, you need 2 new scatters on the reels 1 and 5, for an additional 5 free games.
For those Lucky Spins, the game turns the regular Ganesha Coins into giant versions. Occupying 3×3 positions, these will all turn into regular Ganesha Coins, and then into a large block of matching symbols.
While the RTP of the game can vary (typically at 95.79%, but other settings are available as well to operators), and the volatility is medium-high, its top payouts only appear to go up to 1,380x the stake. Not impressive enough these days, but it’s good enough if you like the theme it uses.
Path of Destiny has something unique to offer, but it’s mostly about its theme and design, not its payouts and features. I’d rather have unique gameplay, than new graphics, but the game is not bad overall.
