Fortune Lions is GameArt’s take on the popular Chinese themed video slot genre. Most developers who take on this genre go far too stereotypical and generic when it comes to the Chinese imagery appearing on the reels of their slots, and GameArt has followed suit.

However, whilst most Chinese themed slots contain so-so graphics, Fortune Lions contains some rather splendid looking symbols, some of which play massive roles as overlaying symbols.

Fortune Lions is not going to be the easiest video slot to get hold of, but if you do find it you should enjoy a better looking Chinese themed video slot experience than you may ordinarily be used to.

Developers

There can be no denying that GameArt is certainly one of the smaller developers of online slots. They simply haven’t acquired the reputation of the bigger boys just that. That being said, they are also a developer on their way up. The wonderful 3D graphics in this slot showcases what GameArt can do.

As a game, Fortune Lions isn’t that different from other video slots released by this developer, but whilst none of those has really hit the limelight, none of them have been particularly shoddy work either. Once again, Fortune Lions should present a viable and entertaining enough video slot gaming experience to players.

How to play

The wagering menu is slightly camouflaged beneath the reels of this slot, and it is camouflaged well. There’s a lot going on, on the reels of this slot, but if you look hard you can find that you can adjust the coin values from $0.01 up to $0.50, and that will, in turn, alter your bets in this game.

Paylines are non-adjustable, so expect to be able to wager anything from $0.50 per spin, up to $25 per spin on this slot. Even so, that hardly makes Fortune Lions the most expensive slot on the net.

Features

Wild symbols: The titular fortune lions (which are really dragons) act as wild symbols in this slot. They can substitute for all other symbols in the game, except for scatter icons. The fortune lion (dragon) symbols also act as the best paying symbols in the game.

Scatter symbols: Scatters appears as lanterns. Scatter symbols can offer you winnings worth up to 4x your total bet when 3 appear on the reels of the slot machine game in any position.

Scatters can only appear on the first, second, and third reels, though it doesn’t matter where on those reels they land, as we’ve said. Landing 3 of those lantern symbols will also trigger a bonus round.

Free spins bonus: Once the slot’s bonus feature has been activated, players will be rewarded with a total of 10 free spins.

After every spin in the game, a wild symbol will be added to the second, third, fourth or fifth reels, until the feature comes to an end. You can retrigger the bonus feature (with just 5 free spins awarded) by landing more scatters on the reels.

Gamble feature: GameArt has included a gamble feature into the design of this slot. The gamble feature can see players able to gamble any winnings they have by selecting either a red or black card. If they guess correctly, they can double their winnings.

Players can gamble up to 5 times. Personally, we’d avoid this feature as it doesn’t present you with anything greater than a 50-50 chance of success. It may be fine for the smaller wins, but we wouldn’t risk bigger wins with it.

Maximum pay-outs

If players want to get their hands on the top prize, they will need to line up 5 wilds on any payline in the game. Doing so will see them pocket a total non-progressive prize which is worth 500 coins in all.

That isn’t too big of a non-progressive prize, but it should suffice for most players, given the inherently cheap bets you will encounter playing the game.

Summary

Fortune Lions certainly has the level of graphical quality and to some degree a sense of excitement to impress players.

In some regards, the slot is no different than other games in terms of features. However, we found that the slot pays out often and that wilds were incredibly common place in this game, leading to further big wins.

True, in many ways the Fortune Lions slot is no different than the countless hundreds of other Chinese-themed slots out there, but in others, it is richer and more rewarding. We’d even go as far to say that it is one of the better ones.
