Banana Town is not a typical monkey-themed slot machine, but it has a few other things going for it. I’d mention here both the use of a mobster story, where the various monkeys are dons and henchmen, and the 8-bit style of the design that makes this a retro game in some ways.

If you check out the lower paying symbols, you find a series of bananas there, colored in red, green, blue, or yellow. You also get five symbols with various monkeys, where the one with the cigar is the top-paying position.

How To Play It

A minimum bet of just $0.10 can be selected in Banana Town, and this should be enough to make the slot accessible to everyone. Higher budgets can also be used, thanks to bets of up to $50 that you can select.

Banana Town has a Pay Anywhere system, using 6×5 reels where symbols of the same type will pay whenever there are enough of them present anywhere. 8 or more will get you a prize, though 12+ are required for best results.

Special Features

After you get a win, via symbols appearing anywhere, you will get a follow through in the form of a cascade. The game removes winning symbols, drops new ones in their place, and if you’re lucky this can get you paid again (and additional cascades would also follow).

Another major part of the game, is the Multiplier Upgrade. Symbols have multipliers that they’re associated with, and they double after each time you manage to form a win with them. Using multiple drops/cascades, you can get the multiplier for a particular symbol to 2x, 4x, 8x, and so on, with the cap being at 64x for the best symbol. These multipliers can also be randomly boosted, as the spin starts.

With 3+ bonus symbols there are 8+ free spins to claim. You start off with the triggering round’s multipliers as a basis, and you get up from there. The multiplier doesn’t reset until the free spins are over. With each new scatter that appears on the reels at this point, you will be able to play through an extra free spin.

Maximum Payouts

Overall, Banana Town offers a decent chunk of change, but there are a lot of others that can do much better. A top jackpot of 10,000x the stake is the highest payout that a single spin could bring you. If we look at regular spins, a cluster with the top symbol pays at most 12x the stake initially, but with the right multipliers that could be boosted to 768x the stake.

This is a slot machine which has high volatility, while the RTP is at 96.12%. It’s an OK mix, but a lot of similar releases will pay more if you reach its cap.

Summary

Banana Town comes up with the right graphics, a retro-style design that is interesting on its own, but there are also a couple of major features for you to explore. I enjoyed the Pay Anywhere system, even if the base game’s wins are not very good.
