While the name ‘Chests of Plenty’ certainly makes for a good choice of title for a pirate-themed slot, we do think that Ash Gaming (now owned by Playtech) was being a little bit humorous and cheeky. Chests of Plenty is a 5-reel, 20-payline progressive jackpot slot by Ash Gaming that has been around for a number of years now. Despite its age, it is still an online slot that has a good following due to having a progressive jackpot that is known by many to pay out big.

The idea is to try and find matching symbols on the reels from left to right and on active paylines in order to secure the payouts associated with them. These payouts can be learned from within the games pay table where you will also learn more about the games bonus features.

Graphics and Sound

Ash Gaming has been known for producing some online slots with outstanding graphics in the past and while the graphics here are okay, they are certainly not in that class.

Base Game Symbols

When you get around to spinning the reels you will want to know more about how much each symbol will be worth to you should you land it in a winning combination. There are eight standard symbols in total on Chests of Plenty but it is the theme-related symbols that will interest you the most.

These are the pirate, crossed swords and parrot symbols as these bring the games more valuable wins. The pirate is worth 2,000x, 400x and 100x the line bet when you can land him five, four and three times on an active payline respectively.

We are not fans of playing card symbols on slots but they are what they are and in Chests of Plenty there are five of them, the 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace and these are where the payouts from the lower end of the spectrum are going to come from.

The symbols responsible for the lowest payouts is that of the 10 which will still give you 40x, 20x and 5x the line bet should you land it five, four or three times on an active payline respectively.

Wild Symbols

The rather attractive looking pirate lady is the wild symbol in Chests of Plenty and she will become any symbol on the reels apart from the other bonus symbols if a winning combination can be created.

As well as helping you to land some wins on the reels, this wild symbol also has a couple of other benefits as well. It has its own payouts attached to it if at least three of them are found on an active payline and you could land a payout of 10,000x the line but if you get the full five.

Finally, if this wild symbol ever lands directly next to a pirate symbol, it will turn that symbol into a wild as well such as the charms that this woman has.

Treasure Chest Bonus

The treasure chest bonus is the first of the two bonus games on Chests of Plenty and it is this one that you have the potential of winning the progressive jackpot from. When you find the chest scatter symbol on the 1^st, 3^rd and 5^th reels during the base game, you will be taken to another screen where there are three chests.

One by one the chests will open up to reveal a combination of jewels. If you find three matching jewels in the chest, you will get another go on the next chest as well as win the multiplier attached to the particular jewel you matched in the previous one.

The bonus round will end once you have opened all three chests or one of the chests did not produce matching jewels. Winning the progressive jackpot is achievable once you have found and matched three diamonds from all three chests.

Treasure Island Bonus

While the treasure chest bonus can obviously lead to the progressive jackpot and provide you with some good payouts, we actually found the Treasure Island Bonus to be the most enjoyable of the two.

Once you have landed at least three of the map scatter symbols anywhere on your reels, you are taken to a mini-game that will see you try and explore three different islands. Depending on how many of those scatter symbols you found will determine where you start.

Three will start you from the very beginning on Booty Island, four will start you on the Isle of Plenty and five will have you start on the final island called Jackpot Island.

You are then tasked with spinning the wheel so that you can move around the selected island. You can either land prizes, earn another spin, win mystery rewards or if lucky enough can gain access to the next island.

The higher the island the more potential for big wins but if you land the skull and crossbones on any spin the bonus round will end there and then.

Betting Range

Chests of Plenty is a fixed-payline slot so when it comes to placing your spin bet you do not have to worry about deciding how many lines to wager on. Instead, you can alter your bet amount by changing up how much you want to wager on each line.
