Tennis Betting Is Popular at Betfair

Across the United Kingdom and Europe, betting is a popular leisure activity, as punters wager millions of pounds each year on sporting events. While football is the most common betting market for players, and new market is emerging, as Betfair reports that Tennis betting is becoming increasingly popular among its patrons.

Betfair recently released statistics that show the US Open encouraged punters to wager $63 million on the event. This year’s US Open saw Betfair break betting records, bringing in the most money ever on a single match. It builds on the success of Wimbledon, which brought in £58 million worth of wagers for the company.

Over the summer, Betfair experienced a 13% jump in profits to £93 million. The Olympics detracted from the company’s usual thriving markets, such as football and horseracing; however, Betfair still managed to show a significant profit during summer 2012.

This summer, Harry Redknapp, former Tottenham boss, was assigned the role of brand ambassador, which is likely to have contributed to the boost in profits experienced by Betfair. The new marketing method certainly has compelled new players to wager.
