Wings of Ra Online Slot Machine – Free Play & Review
Wings of Ra might have certain features which make it interesting, but theme wise we’re not seeing anything special. It’s based on the usual Ancient Egypt theme, taking the action inside some sort of temple or pyramid.
As symbols, we are looking at Mystery Coins, Free Spins logo, Pharaoh, Priest, Horus, Eye of Ra and the Royals between 10 and A. It’s a pretty good design, but not special in any way.
A company that’s founded in Isle of Man, but with gaming licenses issued both by the local regulator and by UK, Red Tiger has done very well in putting the spotlight on themselves.
Through sheer design quality and a mix of mostly low volatility slots, they grew in the last couple of years, and they did it by launching a lot of slots.
In recent months, they’ve been acquired by NetEnt, and so they have even more resources to expand. They’ve also made the move to a higher volatility collection of slots, including titles like Piggy Riches Megaways or Dragon’s Fire Megaways.
How To Play It
Red Tiger slots will often have the same betting system and a range between $0.10 and $20, which is what we’re seeing here as well. It offers us the option to spend up to $2 per line.
As for the type of game that we’re getting, Wings of Ra has 5×3 reels with 10 active lines. A bit on the risky side, due to its high volatility, but not overly complex or difficult to understand or play. In fact, those 10 lines will form combinations with three symbols that touch, without having the requirement for them to start from a certain position. Even three symbols landing in the middle of the line will get you paid.
Don’t expect a very long list of features, Wings of Ra seems to be simple in that regard, delivering only scatters, but no wild symbols.
Mystery Coins can appear on the reels, and it’s one of the big features that the game relies on to make the action interesting. Get these to land, and in all instances where they are present, the Mystery Coins turn around to reveal random symbols. All mystery symbols will turn into the same type of regular symbol, so the more you get, the better the chances of forming additional wins that round.
With scatter symbols present as well, the game will use these to trigger the free spins. Have a minimum of three land, and the game will give you 12 to 18 free spins as a result.
An extra ability comes from the Mystery Symbols, which are now collected in a special meter. You need 14 in total, to get a full meter. Once this happens, the lowest value symbol is turned into a Mystery symbol. The meter can be filled several times, and each time this happens, there is another low value symbol transformed.
The slot’s prizes are not the highest around, they only go up to 3,166x the stake, and that’s less than expected unfortunately. The game’s volatility is high, and the RTP at only 95.69%, so the developer had room to offer a better percentage there, if they wanted to.
Wings of Ra has one thing going for it, its features and the way they have implemented them. I don’t think it’s going to be enough though, as the game doesn’t promise big enough rewards, has a below average RTP and one of the most boring themes they could’ve chosen.
