North Storm Online Slot Machine – Free Play & Review
North Storm’s theme is inspired by the mythology of Northern Europe, a common enough choice for a developer of slot machines. They’ve used blizzard like conditions for the game’s surroundings, and an evil warrior appears to be guarding the reels. The symbols shown include that warrior, a dire wolf, several runes and playing cards.
The company behind North Storm, Rabcat, has become well known in the last couple of years, and this was thanks to a slot machine called Castle Builder. They are based in Austria, and they are partners for Microgaming, launching slot machines on their platform and on others.
How To Play It
North Storm can be played with a wager of 25 coins, where only the denomination changes. This means that you can have coins of just $0.01, so you spend $0.25 per spin. You can also go higher, even up to $2 for the coin value, and $50 for the round’s total.
The game doesn’t have a very unusual setup, it’s the standard 5×3 reels and there are 25 lines present each round. You spin the reels, form combinations with 3+ symbols arranged in fixed positions, then you take advantage of various extras, as you can see from the features section, below.
First, I’d like to mention the Bonus Falls, which you may also know under the name Rolling Reels, among others. The mechanic is the same. You form a combination, the game removes the winning symbols, then allows new ones to come in and take the empty positions. This can result in new wins for you, and that would get the Bonus Falls to trigger again.
Part of the Bonus Falls, there is a multiplier which will go up with each new cascade that triggers, reaching a maximum of 4x. The multiplier resets once the round is over.
Dire Wolf Wilds are going to be present, and acting as substitutes when they end up part of winning combinations. Its own wins pay very well, 100x the stake on each combo being a possibility.
The only other interesting symbol in this game is the Warrior Scatter. You can get it several times on the reels, and through it the game can deliver 8 free spins, though there is a possibility of having up to 20 rounds total. The thing that’s interesting here, is that the multiplier gets a boost, so rather than 1x to 4x, the bonus falls will bring 2x to 8x.
You don’t risk a whole lot while playing North Storm, but there aren’t huge jackpots for you to get inspired by. The game seems capable of paying 1,000x the stake, at most, and that’s not great these days. It’s not extremely low either, so I’d say the game’s potential is average here.
The game’s volatility is considered medium, which means that it’s not going to typically be a slot that ruins you in just a couple of spins. You can keep playing for a while, and be slightly ahead or behind at the end of it.
I need to mention the game’s RTP as well, it’s at 96.13% and it tells us that the game is not that different from other modern slots. Long-term, the casino is expected to end up with about 3.87% of what’s wagered, while the rest returns to players as winnings.
North Storm has OK features, a good idea for its theme, but the mix of runes and Royals isn’t one that I’d call exciting. Ultimately, I haven’t found anything new in North Storm, everything it offers can be found in other slots as well.
