Micro Knights Online Slot Machine – Free Play & Review
Micro Knights has a bit of a medieval and fantasy theme to it, relying on knights and dragons for the action it tells us about. Those creatures are mostly outside the game area though, looking in. On the reels, you find cows, goats, frogs, rabbits, toadstools, archery targets, fountains and meat. Design wise, it’s looking very good.
Elk Studios offers games since 2013, and it’s a developer that is based in Sweden. They are giving us a good collection of slots to choose from, almost always with great graphics and plenty of features.
They’re not afraid to innovate either, as you will find for yourself. Among the three dozen or so slots that they’ve released so far, I would mention favorites of mine, slots like Ecuador Gold, The Wiz or Platooners.
How To Play It
If you want to give Micro Knights a try, you only need to select a wager, and then click on Spin. A new menu opens up, with all the bet values that can be used, and the range is the same $0.20 to $100 that we see in all Elk slots. The wagers will also have 100 coins in them at all times, where the denomination doesn’t go higher than $1.
They came up with a slot which has 7×7 reels, and where Cluster Pays are in use. You need 5+ matching symbols to be connected horizontally and/or vertically, to get paid. There are additional features and mechanics inside, such as Avalanches, but more on that in the features section.
As I mentioned above, you are forming clusters of 5+ symbols, using a game area which has 49 symbols. The biggest payouts will come from clusters of 20+ matching symbols, and the best symbol is the one with the Cow.
The Avalanche is a mechanic which occurs whenever a cluster forms. The game removes the winning symbols, brings new ones in, and this can result in the formation of new combinations. It’s used under all kinds of names in other slots, such as Chain Reactions or Cascading Reels.
A Wild Cup will be the substitute, a symbol that you can have in any cluster of regular symbols, where it substitutes for a missing icon.
Crowns are going to be the scatters here, symbols which appear three times and then they trigger the free drops feature. You get 5 rounds, where the Queue has sticky symbols.
The Queue is shown at the bottom, and you will notice certain symbols sitting there. The symbols shown there are added to the clusters from the game area, to form wins together.
Charging Knight is a random option, which will move a row of symbols towards the Queue.
Smashing Knights will give you a bigger counter for the symbols in the queue, adding 1 to each.
To the other features I mentioned, I’d also tell you about the Feature Flags, which trigger when you fill a meter, with the help of winning clusters. You can get dragons to burn low value icons, additional wilds to appear, symbols to become super sized, rows of symbols to be moved to the queue, or you can create wins with all symbols found in that queue.
Payouts will go as high as $250,000, which is the cap that appears to be used for a lot of slots from Elk Studios. For a game with $100 wagers, that’s a payout of up to 2,500x the stake, which is not bad.
Medium to high volatility action, along with a 96% RTP, these tell us that there is a certain risk involved, but ultimately it’s a fair slot.
Micro Knights doesn’t look like a typical game, and it doesn’t play like one either. They appear to have tried to innovate inside, and they mostly succeeded.
