Jin Chan’s Pond of Riches Slot Machine – Free Play & Review
One of the common themes that we’ve been seeing in new slot machines these days, involving Chinese wealth and luck, has taken a variety of forms, even as the graphics tend to remain quite similar from one game to the next.
Thunderkick chose a less common focus, on the money frog, and we’re seeing it in action alongside a design which is considerably better than what we’ve gotten in similar titles.
As for the symbols that you will find on its reels, the developer starts you off with the Moon Wild, continues with The Frog Coin scatter, and then with images of Frogs, Herons, Koi fish or Turtles, for the premium positions. The low value ones give us six Royals, in an Asian-style design, between 9 and A.
It’s a Thunderkick release, a developer which is fairly small, but which has always been known to offer designs of the highest quality in their slots. If you like what you see here, I’d also recommend the Beat the Beast series, along with slots like Pink Elephants (1 and 2), or Crystal Quest: Deep Jungle.
How To Play It
The typical way to select a wager in a Thunderkick slot is available here as well, with a new screen opening to reveal a list of bet values. Click on the one that you want to use, in the range of $0.10 to $100, and you can start playing.
The setup which is used in Jin Chan’s Pond of Riches has only 15 active lines on 5×3 reels, so it’s not going to offer you a lot of chances to create combinations. The way to get paid is via 3+ consecutive symbols, on the same line and starting from the leftmost position.
It’s a special type of wild that you’re looking at in this game, one which will have a multiplier that changes from one reel to the next.
The number of the reel tells you the multiplier value, so the wild boosts wins by 1x to 5x, depending on its landing position.
However, there is more good news, the fact that getting several wilds will multiply their multipliers, to get an even bigger win.
With wilds on the last four reels, and a regular symbol on the 1st, the win gets a boost of 120x, absolutely impressive.
The image for this symbol is that of the Full Moon above a lake.
Moving on, there is a scatter, the one showing you a Teal-colored Frog Statue, with a Gold Coin in its open mouth.
These you need landing 3 to 5 times, all in a single spin, as this gets you anywhere from 8 to 16 free spins.
As you progress in the free spins, you collect scatters, and each one gets you 1 additional free round. Once you have three collected, a random wild gets placed in the game area. Up to three random wilds can eventually appear on the reels, at the same time, through this method.
While those free spins are ongoing, you can get Sticky Respins to trigger. It happens for winning combinations, which are sticky for the respin that follows, the attempt being to get more symbols for them, and bigger wins.
I do like the payout potential of a game like this, despite the fact that its going to include a small number of lines. Thanks to combined multipliers of up to 120x, a top jackpot of 10,000x the stake is not out of the question.
Where this game doesn’t do well, is in delivering a good RTP, as it’s set to a very low 94.27%.
Jin Chan’s Pond of Riches looks like it could’ve been a fun one, but I doubt that players will want to give it a chance, once they take a look at its RTP.
