Disco Danny Slot Machine – Free Play & Review
The late 20th century is close enough to our times that most of us still remember it fairly well, and in fact it makes up a big part of our early lives. If the disco music of those times appeals to you, then you get a chance to experience a little fun new slot from NetEnt, called Disco Danny, where this type of content is the big focus.
Using only 3 reels, it nonetheless relies on a modern design, incorporating symbols such as silver and golden disco balls, the Disco King, roller skates, Sevens, along with the three variants for the Bar logo (1, 2 or 3 together).
It’s NetEnt that worked on Disco Danny, and while this might not be the type of content you expect from a developer that’s all about modern graphics and features, I think you will find that the 3-reel format can be turned into something exciting. They’ve done it plenty of times before, and it’s one of the developers which come highly recommended.
How To Play It
You will select the total bet, and it can be as low as $0.10 per spin. It’s also possible to increase it considerably, even up to $250 per spin.
In exchange for your wagers, Disco Danny will deliver 3×3 reels with 5 active lines, which is considered a fairly typical setup for such a game. Your combinations require three symbols of the same type, all on the same line, to get paid.
Disco Danny comes up with two different variants for the scatter symbol. One is the Silver Disco Ball, while the other is a Golden Disco Ball.
Golden Disco Balls, upon landing anywhere in sight, will deliver a random prize to the player.
Should 3 Silver Disco Balls land in sight, or a combination of 2 Silver and 1 Gold, the game will trigger the free spins feature for you. Here, you advance through 5 levels, increasing the multiplier along the way. Starting from 1x at level 1, then 2x at level 2, 3x at level 3, 5x at level 4, and a whopping 10x for level 5, the potential is clearly better in this mode.
It’s not a typical free spins feature though. You only get Golden Disco Balls on its reels, which will give you prizes ranging from 1x to 50x. To get to the next level, you need to fill the 9 reel positions with these Golden Disco Balls. Your prize for that level takes into account all the values from those symbols, along with the level multiplier. You only get 3 free spins, but the number resets whenever you get new Golden symbols in view.
There is also a golden version of the Disco King, used as a scatter and capable of delivering wins of up to 100x the stake if it lands three times in view.
Disco Danny gives us pretty good rewards, of up to 3,333x the stake, all while the RTP in this one is kept at a reasonable 96.04%. The less exciting part is the very low hit frequency, as only 1 in 7 spins is going to be a winner, on average. Naturally, the volatility will be High, and so the swings in fortune can be considerable.
Disco Danny looks promising at first, but it didn’t convince me, and that’s mostly due to its very low hit frequency. It is about twice as hard as in other slots to get a win, and we’re talking about other high volatility titles here. The free spins do look like fun, but as usual, that’s not a place that you can easily reach.
