After delivering several other slot machines which rely on the PopWins mechanic, AvatarUX and Yggdrasil are now releasing Cherrypop as well. The game follows part of the original recipe, at least feature wise, but it has classic symbols and graphics that may or may not be appreciated by those that are giving it a shot. The design quality is fine, those are modern graphics that you’re looking at, but the fruits and Royals included are the same ones you’ve likely seen many times before.

As for the symbols which will show up on the reels, it starts with the half a dozen Royals, 9 to A. You then go on to Grape, Watermelon, Orange, Horseshoe, Clover, Bell and Diamond. Special Cherry symbols are reserved for the free spins.

Developer

Yggdrasil Gaming doesn’t need much of an introduction, it’s a developer that has offered us a lot of great games over the years. AvatarUX is the other company which has worked on Cherrypop, and they’ve managed to do a great job so far with the series. The other games they’ve worked on, and which share the PopWins mechanic, are called PopRocks and WildPops, with a fourth one expected over the coming months, called BountyPop.

How To Play It

Setting up the total bet is the way to go here as well, and it’s similar to what we’ve seen in many other slots. The range within which you’re working is between $0.20 and $20, per spin.

You start off with 243 ways to win, on 5 reels. They claim that you actually get 486 ways, and that’s because the lines will form combinations both ways, so the 3+ symbols required can land either left to right, or right to left. Through the PopWins mechanic, you could end up with 59,049 ways (118,098 actually, since you get them to pay both ways).

Special Features

As you create various combinations on the game’s reels, the PopWins mechanic will come into play. Each winning symbol will pop, splitting the empty position into 2 new ones, and bringing new symbols there. This expands the game area, and the number of ways to win as well. During regular spins, this allows you to go from 5×3 reels to 5×6 reels.

If you manage to get the full game area unlocked, with the Pop mechanic triggering in all positions, then you get access to 5 free spins. Next, you get the option to gamble on the Wheel of Fortune, in the hopes that you can win 11 more rounds. If you lose, you go back to the paid spins.

During free spins, the multiplier starts from 2x, but then it also goes up by 1x whenever you get a Pop trigger. There is no limit placed on the multiplier value, and if you get to the maximum game area, the multiplier goes up by 4x from there. While the base game had 5×3 reels, the free spins start from 5×6 reels, and can go up to 5×9 reels.

Maximum Payouts

Huge rewards are on the table in Cherrypop, but there is no guarantee for the game’s players, it could go either way just as easily. Since it’s highly volatile, most players will find the game to be a risky affair, but it could all be worth it if you get close to the jackpot of 56,386x the stake. RTP is good as well, at 96.20%.

Summary

Cherrypop looks just as fun of a game as the other slots which rely on the PopWins mechanic. Big wins, exciting reel expansions, high multipliers and excellent payout potential, there is enough there to make it a good pick for experienced players.
