Cat Wilde and the Doom of Dead Online Slot Machine – Free Play & Review
Play n GO has had a lot of success over the years, with slot machines which had Rich Wilde as the main character. The adventurer has traveled to different countries of the world, as an Indiana Jones like character, searching for treasures among the ruins of ancient civilizations.
With Doom of Dead, we’re getting a new series of sorts, as the adventurer’s daughter is also becoming a character in a new game. Cat Wilde is the name of this new character, and once again we’re looking at an Ancient Egypt inspired design, which is far from an unusual choice these days.
The graphics are pretty good, as expected, while the list of symbols that they rely on will include the image of Cat Wilde, but also Egyptian mummies, the Sphinx, Anubis and scarabs. Lastly, we get to the low symbols as well, the ones showing us Egyptian-themed Royals.
Play n GO is a Swedish company, one of the top developers of slot machines for the online casino industry. It’s been quite fast at launching new slot machines over the last couple of years, and they’ve managed to get a collection of more than 200 titles right now, a lot of them slots with higher volatility and above average payouts (5,000x to 10,000x the total stake seems to be typical for them).
How To Play It
As with every other Play n Go release, you select the wager for the upcoming spin, using the bet options displayed at the bottom. The smallest wager allowed is $0.10, while the maximum one is $100.
It’s not that unique of a game, on the contrary, and it should feel familiar to someone that has tried Book-style slots before. It features 5 reels and 10 active lines, on which you need combinations of 3+ matching symbols to get paid, appearing left to right.
This is a game that’s been inspired by the very popular Book of Ra and by the many slots that have been based on it over the years. It changes some things, but not enough to be truly different, it’s still closer to a clone for the most part.
The main difference that you’re going to see, is that the wild symbol is not also the scatter, which is what happens in most games of this type. You get a different wild symbol here, which has the ability to expand and take over its reel, used then as a replacement on up to 10 active lines, as needed.
The other one is the Compass scatter, which is used to get you the free spins. The 1st, 3rd and 5th reels all need this symbol, before you can get 10 free spins. As the feature starts up, the game selects one of the regular symbols and makes it special, meaning that it gives it the ability to expand when it lands, covering their reels entirely. One of the reasons why this is great, is that these special symbols will pay as scatters, so you just need them appearing enough times, even if they don’t show up on consecutive reels.
The potential in Cat Wilde and the Doom of Dead is quite high, but that’s not unusual at all for a slot machine in this series. They’re all designed to pay 5,000x the stake, sometimes even more, and they do it through only 10 active lines. Of course, the volatility is high, but the RTP is OK, at 96.29%.
Overall, Cat Wilde and the Doom of Dead looks like it’s going to be fun for someone that’s already into this series, and loves the Book-style experience. It doesn’t change enough to be truly special, but that doesn’t make it less fun to play.
