The Japan Gaming Congress Receives Tremendous Interest

The Japan Gaming Congress, also referred to as JgC, is being held on May 10th and 11th at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Tokyo, and is almost all filled up. The organizers are thrilled to announce that almost all the capacity has already been reserved and the rest of the interested parties are urged to hurry with their registrations. Over 420 delegates had registered so far for this prestigious event that will host some of the most prominent industry leaders including the CEO of Caesars Entertainment, Mark Frissora, as well as John Raczka, a former Vice President of Entertainment Development and Operations at Melco Crown Entertainment. The gathering will also include Ernst & Young Japan’s Senior Manager and Sub-Leader for the Integrated Resort Support Office, Masayo Watanabe, in addition to Masahiro Terada, Senior Manager at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Japan. Equally important and appreciated will be the presence of Mr. Ed Bowers, the serving CEO of the Japan’s MGM Resorts division.

Online registration, which is still available at www.japangamingcongress.com, will be closed after 5 PM GMT on Monday on May 8th. Due to the tremendous interest, organizers are unable to guarantee that the delegates who do not register on time and consequently arrive onsite will be able to have access to the full event.

The event is organized to address the huge potential that the new gaming regulation in Japan had evoked. That is exactly what Rory Credland who serves as the Event Director for JgC had outlined in his recent interview when he stated that the gaming industry in Japan is very lucrative with an estimated value of $40 billion annually. Mr. Credland also mentioned that in addition to Japan being the third largest global economy, it can also serve as a gaming hub and a gravitational center for the rest of Asia. With the passing of the Integrated Resort Promotion Bill, the Japanese Congress has created a backbone for the promotion of the country as the premier gaming destination.

The congress is organized as a two-day long educational forum with a goal to offer a direct insight and a clear understanding of the current gambling legislation in the country. With only a short time remaining before the Japanese Government starts issuing the first batch of casino licenses, JgC wants to provide an opportunity to its attendance to fully understand the complex nature as well as the full potential of IR Casinos in Japan.

Some of the topics that will be covered at this year’s convention include licensing regulations, building a MICE-based economy revolving around IR projects, and the practices used in responsible gambling. Furthermore, the list of possible IR locations and details about financing IR projects will also be discussed.
