Genting Grand Casino – Plymouth Review

Genting Grand Casino in Plymouth Outdoor View

Open since 2012, the Genting Grand Casino in Plymouth is a small but well-designed modern-styled casino. Located 2 Union Street in the city, 2 Union Street, this casino will provide its visitors with numerous gaming options, a late bar and plenty of bonuses and promotions to keep you coming back for more.

The casino opens its doors seven days a week at 1 pm and will close at to 5 am. Electronic gaming is available during all opening hours but the live gaming tables will not start up until 6 pm each day.

The compact gaming floor does not have the space to provide nearly as many tables, slots or electronic terminals as some other casinos in the UK but it does make use of that space as well as possible.

There are eight gaming tables and nineteen gaming terminals with the latter being a mix of slot machines, multi-game machines and electronic table games. Cleopatra Plus, The Elephant King and Electric Plus are just a few of the popular slot games in the casino while the terminals will allow you to enjoy roulette, blackjack and other classic table games.

Of course, if you prefer the real thing, those table games can be enjoyed on the main tables with varying betting limits attached.

  • 3 x American Roulette Tables (£1 – £200)
  • 2 x Blackjack Tables (£3 – £500)
  • 1 x Baccarat Table (£5 – £500)
  • 1 x 3 – 5 Poker Table (£3 – £50)
  • 1 x Crazy 4-Card Poker Table (£2 – £200)
  • 19 x Gaming Terminals

If poker is more your cup of tea, you can enjoy poker tournaments on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Furthermore, cash games are often run alongside the tournaments but can also be arranged on other days as well if enough players show interest.

As long as you do not come dressed in unclean clothes, vests, football shirts or steel-capped boots, you should not experience too much trouble gaining entry to the Genting Grand Casino. There is a smart/casual dress code but this is not the most strict dress code around and will let you get away with smart-looking jeans, t-shirts and trainers.

Unfortunately, the Genting Grand Casino does not have an inhouse restaurant for when you start to feel a little peckish. You do not have to starve of course as there is a graze and play menu available at the casino. There you can get your hands on sandwiches, burgers, other light meals and snacks as well as a large choice of refreshments.

JD’s Grill and Lorenzos are two restaurants in close proximity to the Genting Casino if you did want something a little more substantial to eat.

The Late Bar is where you will want to go to celebrate or commiserate your results on the casino floor or to simply relax in front of the large screens watching the latest live sporting action.

As a small casino, there is not all that much on offer in terms of events and promotions. You do get a number of great deals in the Late Bar though with things like a 2 for 1 offer on cocktails between 7 pm and 3 am each day.

Genting experience packages and group packages are also available which will offer great value for money if a number of you are planning a night out. Each of those packages includes a “Learn to Play” session which will ensure that all of the group has a better understanding of how to play the games at the casino.

If you plan on being a regular visitor over the years to Genting Casino’s in the UK, you really should consider becoming a member. While it is not required as anyone above 18 can enter the casino, there are a number of benefits you will miss out on if you do not sign up.

Among these is a rewards scheme where you can collect and redeem reward points. Each time you bet or play in a Genting Casino, you will earn points and these can be traded in for money off food and drink or even exchanged for betting chips.

There is no dedicated car park at the casino so if you are coming in by car, you will have to find parking elsewhere The most convenient option is the pay and display car park which is round the back of the casino.

If you plan on having a drink and therefore are not coming in by car, there is a taxi rank right in front of the casino. Furthermore, on the same street as the casino is a number of bus stops that will allow you to get around the city. The Plymouth train station is not too close so a taxi would be the best bet in getting there.

New Continental, Crowne Plaza and the Invicta Hotel are your best options for accommodation as they are close to the casino. Of course, you will find plenty of other options around the city of Plymouth too.

Plymouth might not sound like the most exciting of cities to visit in England but you would be surprised at what else you can do in your spare time. As a port city, you are treated to coastline and beaches on both sides of the city while there are numerous other attractions to visit and see.

  • National Marine Aquarium
