Nordic Heroes is based on Scandinavian Vikings. Their lifestyle, and pagan gods have been feeding popular culture for years and now IGT have decided to jump on the bandwagon, with Nordic Heroes.

Thora and Ragnar venture through the Forest of Fortune and the Sea of Glory on a quest to find riches. There are monsters and fantasy so the historical element only goes so far.

Developer

Nordic Heroes was developed by IGT, an American game developer. IGT are one of the bigger, and more experienced game developers. As is often the case with the older and more experienced game developers their game, often lack wow factor.

They are in the nasty habit of developing games that leave a bit to be desired as far as aesthetics are concerned. That being said, they always include great RTPs jackpot and features. Their titles, do the basics great.

Design

Nordic Heroes is a five reel slot. There are a few base game backgrounds but the one, which the player starts out with is the forest of fortune. There are different backgrounds for the different realms of this game. Nordic Heroes has an EX points system, which levels up the player’s characters.

A lot of the games design features, are unlocked with this system. It is otherwise a conventional five reel slot. The panel is located under the reels, and it houses all the games controls. On the left of the screen there is a bar that displays the player’s unlocked upgrades.

How to play

The player adjusts their bet, before spinning the reels to have it take effect next spin. There are 30 paylines in this game, and if the player lands the symbols in agreeance with any of these paylines they win.

For symbol values, payline and bets the player should consult the help guide, which IGT has included. The reels are spun, with the Spin Button. In this game, the amount of lines the player bets on is fixed and all that betting changes is the amount of coins bet on each line.

Special Features

Nordic Heroes, has a level system. It give this slot a bit of a video game feel, apologies to the purists. The player levels up characters to unlock item, realms and abilities. EX points a won, in the bonus game. The Battle bonus is triggered by landing three scatters, anywhere on the reels. The symbols are only found in reel 1,3 and 5.

Different realms have slightly different battles, with different monsters and symbols. The feature is played by spinning the reels to try defeat monsters. Each monster the player defeats wins EX points. And the round ends when the player’s character runs out of health, or all three monster meet their end. Defeating all three monsters unlocks victory spins.

The Mystery Multiplier Feature can trigger after any base game win that does not also trigger the Battle Bonus. A multiplier wheel is spun, with the values entered according to the player’s current level, see the game rules for more info. Once this reel lands the players payline is multiplied by the shown amount.

Maximum Payout

The Wild, is the highest value symbol in the game. If the player lands a five in a row, it pays 1500 credits. Remembering this game can randomly multiply any win by up to 30x, this is quite a lucrative game.

Summary

Nordic Heroes, level system, does well to differentiate this slot game. Whether it improves it, or not can only be decided by the player. It certainly complicates things, but is by no means a challenging slot to play. The game has the potential for big wins, and holds a bankroll steady.
