Winner Takes Home $666,777 at World Series of Poker
A Canadian citizen and a resident of Vancouver, Duncan Bell, won a massive sum of $666,777 at a World Series of Poker event in Las Vegas.
The winner defeated more than one thousand other poker players at the event. The winners close friend Shawn Buchanan who’s a resident of Abbotsford, B.C., and finished fourth in the tournament, won a sum of $218,000 US. Bell stated, his victory was due to a number of factors going his way.
The four day event was tiring for the winner as it was played over 3 days, with the event lasting 12 hours during the first day and 14 hours on the second day.
For the winner the long schedule was a tough challenge. He spent four hours on the final table before he was declared the winner. Talking about his final hand, Bell said, “I think it was god’s gift as I saw two black aces.”
The winner who is thirty two and his father spent around $5,000 of his winning sum. The last time Bell played in the No-Limit Hold’em Championship was in 2005 when he won $21,070.
He is the fourth Vancouver resident to have won a World Series event this year. The winner started playing poker at the Vancouver casinos eight years ago.
